These postcards were created by women survivors of gender-based violence/hatred and others who are concerned with women’s oppression. The postcards are visual representations of lived experiences and serve to more accurately depict the empowering and disempowering experiences of women. By displaying women’s personal stories in public space, I intend to politicize women’s personal and raise awareness of women's issues in an attempt to stop acts of gender-based violence/hatred.

Week 1
Visual response to the prompt: "What does The Global War Against Women mean to you?"
I was confronted by a woman the first day of a new job. She said to me, "O, I should've figured you would be a skinny blonde. They only hire girls like that around here. I know they are trying to get rid of me," she continued,"I used to be skinny too, but you just wait and see what this job does to you." I was speechless. Here was a woman that wasn't super skinny, that didn't exercise, dress nice, or wear make-up, therefore she thought it was okay to stereotype me for taking care of myself, and putting on a professional business suit. Woman can get it from both sides.
