These postcards were created by women survivors of gender-based violence/hatred and others who are concerned with women’s oppression. The postcards are visual representations of lived experiences and serve to more accurately depict the empowering and disempowering experiences of women. By displaying women’s personal stories in public space, I intend to politicize women’s personal and raise awareness of women's issues in an attempt to stop acts of gender-based violence/hatred.

c. Visual response to the prompt: "How could/did you turn the negative experience that you represented in your previous postcard (A time when you felt powerless) into an empowering experience?"
In several situations, I've also found that I can only rely on myself.
ReplyDeleteIt is important for women to be able to support themselves, rather than looking for men to provide them with financial support.
It's empowering to know that as a women you can make things okay.
